Cindy Slade | Secretary/Treasurer

I reside in Colonial Heights, Va. with my husband, Louis Slade.

We took our first shag lesson in October 1998. I fell in love with the dance and the social aspect of the whole idea. Just being a part of a dance that allows you to meet so many people and become involved in the activities was just the ticket. After joining the Richmond Shag Club, I served on the board for many years. I was chairperson of the membership committee, which allowed me to meet and greet the newcomers. Later I served as Vice-President and then President. Louis and I became active in teaching shag lessons for years.

I have since been involved with the Central Virginia Junior Shaggers organization, where I watch the young people with great enthusiasm. It brings a smile to my face to see these kids carrying on the tradition of the Shag dance. I love chairing the Social Committee for the CVJS, where I help with organizing the Shag Jams.

In 2014 I joined the Virginia Junior Shaggers, Inc. where I serve as Secretary /Treasurer.
