Beach music and shaggin’ were an integral part of my life while living in the Carolinas (more than 26 yrs) – bands playing open air concerts each week all summer long; LOTS of shag instructors and many, many lessons; a member of a few different shag clubs through the years; beach music playing on several radio stations…..good memories! Since returning to Northern Virginia in 2007, I’ve been a member of the Northern Virginia Shag Club, working behind the scenes, and served on the Board of Directors as Secretary for two years. I haven’t been able to dance as much as I’d choose due to some health issues, but that has only inspired me to get others to dance more, especially Juniors, the Future of our Dance! Northern Virginia Shag Club is hosting the ACSC Summer 2015 Workshop and I’m active on several committees for that event.
My career was in Banking and Finance (nearly thirty years), until 2000, when I joined the startup effort of the Marine Corps Museum at Camp Lejeune, NC, serving as Assistant to the Executive Director and Museum Administrator (and Office Manager and Bookkeeper and Marketing Manager and Staff at tradeshows and ‘all other duties as assigned’ – that’s what a ‘startup effort’ is all about) for seven years. Since late 2014 I’ve been a volunteer with the SemperFi Fund, writing acknowledgements of the “In Honor Of” donations made world-wide.
